The Krystal Pomante Scholorship Fund was founded by the Pomante Family as a way to commemorate the passing of young Krystal Pomante. Krystal’s life was tragically taken during an illegal street race in which she was an unfortunate passenger along for the ride. “Krystal Pomante Night” was a joint venture by Portland International Raceway and Oregon Beat the Heat Racing as a way to help raise money for the scholorship fund. We are happy to announce that the fund gave out it’s first scholorships last year and we hope the trend continues year after year. Over the years the event has grown dramatically and for the first time it is pulling in support not only from local entities but from sources outside the metropolitan area as well. This year is shaping up to be the biggest and baddest year ever for us and one that you will not want to miss…
The date is July 31st, 2010. The place is Portland International Raceway. The event is “Krystal Pomante Night”. Some of the reasons you will want to be there are;
Joint Venture- a Freightliner with a 4,000 Horsepower V16 Diesel engine that currently holds the national record – 228.9 mph – in the Unlimited Modified Diesel Truck (U/MDT) class. You won’t want to miss it as it has been approved to do a burnout that is sure to take your breath away.

Police Chief Shootout- Current reigning Fairview Police Chief Ken Johnson will need to defend his title against the onslaught of chiefs trying to make their way to the top and receive the title “Fastest Chief”. The banter is back as Fairview looks to repeat and maintain the title. Come watch the fireworks as the bullets fly and they settle this once again.

Multiple car clubs- There will be plenty of established car clubs on site to include “Route 26 Cruisers” , “Pacific Northwest Convertible club” ,and many more…..
A portion of all entry fees goes to benefit the “Krystal Pomante Scholorship Fund” so come on out and join us!!! You will not regret it.
The date was Friday, March 26th 2010 and it was one to remember. The Guardian Racing team and their car commemorating the fallen soldiers of Oregon made its way to PIR for a night of early season racing. The Oregon Beat the Heat team made it out to meet the team and challenge the kids to another “Late” night of racing. Both cars started off the night with a so called grudge match against each other. The Beat the Heat car pulled the wheels off the ground and launched to an early lead but had to let off and give up on the rest of the night with lingering car issues. The Guardian team made the winning pass but not without finding some early season car issues of their own. The Guardian racing crew was able to fix the issue that held them in the pits for a little while and they pushed on to multiple runs. A couple of them coming in at an even twelve flat. The fastest the car has ever been down the track. Congratulations to them on a night to remember and we look forward to many nights at the track, both Woodburn and PIR, this season promoting both cars and what they represent. Be sure and check out the pics of the night on the photo page and be sure to come on out and join in the next night of fun….
We attended a “Friends of PIR” gathering two weeks ago opening this years race season at Portland International Raceway. Please visit PIR’s website and take a look at this seasons schedule. Come on out and join us at the “Late Night Drags” and who knows. Maybe you can outrun the COPS…..and maybe you will get busted.
With the completion of this years elections we would like to welcome all the newly elected officials and look forward to the contributions they will make over the coming year. We would also like to offer our thanks and gratitude to all those departing the positions as they have done an outstanding job. For this, we salute you!
